Earlier this summer, Assumption College received its largest donation in the history of the college. Dr. Donald D'Amour and his wife Michele donated $4.2 million to Assumption to help keep Catholic traditions alive and "in support of the school's Catholic intellectual traditon", according to the office of Public Affairs.

On September 2, 2008, Assumption College transformed the Plourde Recreation Center gymnasium into an auditorium to welcome the class of 2012 in the second annual Matriculation Ceremony. The Matriculation Ceremony tradition started last year, when President Cesareo initiated the idea for the class of 2011 as a way to officially induct and welcome them to Assumption College.

This fall, Assumption students and faculty return to school with a heavy heart following the passing of one of their own last spring. Joe Riley, a 19-year old undergraduate from Holden, MA was killed on May 11, just days after completing his first year at Assumption.

There is no doubt that technology has transformed classroom instruction. The days of blackboards and chalk have all but faded away. Eye-catching, colorful PowerPoint presentations and touch-sensitive smart panels adorn today's classrooms. Now, technology has a golden opportunity to transform the learning process outside of the classroom as well.
