Kerry Cronin recalls going out to ice cream seven years ago with seven seniors from Boston College. A professor at the College, Cronin connected in conversation with the students over their anxieties about the real world. She eased herself into asking the question of what they thought about leaving relationships with boyfriends and girlfriends behind.

The feeling in the d'Alzon library is one of ease and friendliness, as some of Assumption College's faculty intermingle and discuss their work. However, on this day, "work" is not the papers they've assigned or lectures they've put together, but what they've done on their own.

Laura Hall spends every Thursday night in the car. While her peers are heading out for tonight, she is heading back to South Burlington, Vermont. Not the typical weekend for a college senior. Then again, little can be considered typical when you're contending for the Miss America crown.
