Thoughts from the Corner Office: SGA Column

The following was given on January 21, 2010 by Hugo J. Jury, President of the Student Government Association. Good Evening Assumption College, I welcome you all here to Kennedy Hall this evening and thank you for your attendance. Tonight, I must fulfill an obligation and privilege.

Campus Activities Board: Lights, camera, CAB events

In case you missed it, CAB's Welcome Back Week had all you needed to "Tube into 2010" at Assumption. The week began with "What You Didn't Get for Christmas Bingo!" at 8 p.m. in Taylor Dining Hall on Tuesday, January 19, congratulations to all of the winners.

Residential Life: Individual responsibility

If there is one thing that the campus community agrees on; it would have to be how outrageous our damage bills are. How does a $4 ceiling tile turn into a $25 or $30 damage repair bill? Maybe you've been charged $25 per bag of improperly disposed garbage, which in the majority of cases has no connection to the person being charged, other than the fact that they live in the building and/or area.

Reach Out Center: Reflections on the rewards of community service

With just over 100 days left in my undergraduate career at Assumption College, I find myself scanning over the last four years in an attempt to revive my "glory days." I scan over and relive pictures, memories, conversations and interactions, all chalk full with moments of laughter, tears, feelings of frustration, challenge, triumph and recognition.

Campus Ministry Column: A new start

How miserable does it feel when you've hurt somebody, maybe through a lie or a rumor or some neglected action, but that person doesn't even know it's your fault? How heavy with guilt the heart feels to watch the person suffer even while they treat you with kindness in their ignorance.

Office of Multicultural Affairs: Risks of reckless stereotyping

Since the end of the fall semester, I had been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to write this article because I knew it would be my final article to appear in the Multicultural Affairs section of Le Provocateur. At the start of the holidays, I made the decision to use this article as an opportunity to reflect on my undergraduate experience here at Assumption; an experience that has been nothing short of fulfilling.
